FAQs

Any questions? We have listed the following FAQs for our new clients. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us. Your input is essential to our business, and would be greatly appreciated.

Q1. What qualifications do you have?
Answer:
CADfps is a small and dynamic company. Our in-house CAD designers hold NICET certification, science and engineering degrees from prestigious institutions. We have more than 40 years of combined working experiences on computer modeling, CAD, mechanical and fire protection engineering. As an independent CAD service provider, CADfps has been successfully providing CAD drafting services for hundreds of fire sprinkler projects. We have a proven track record of having jobs done right at the first time, and are capable of handling different kinds of projects in the field.
Q2. Do you provide business general liability insurance certificates to fire protection contractors?
Answer: No. CADfps only provides customized CAD drafting services in digital based formats. We have our own insurance program, but we currently only work for registered or licensed fire protection contractors and companies with their business G&L insurance policies covering 1099 subcontractors. We should treat CAD layouts as “software like” digital based applications or contents. The layouts or drawings or plans are not official engineering documents unless they are reviewed and signed by licensed R.M.E. or P.E., and with approvals from AHJs, Authority Having Jurisdictions.
Q3. How do you handle a project?
Answer: Typically, we have the following A-B-C steps:
A. Quote a proposed project, and get a confirmation or authorization to do layout.
B. Study all potential issues with RFI items, and develop preliminary or coordination drawings for client’s field coordination. This step may minimize potential piping conflicts during field installation.
C. Incorporate any feedback from field coordination into layouts, and finalize CAD submittal.
Q4. How do you get paid for your CAD drafting services?
Answer: Basically, we have two options:
Option 1:
A. 40% amount due before or when coordination layout is done.
B. 80% amount due before or when submittal layout is done.
C. 100% amount due when the stocklist is sent, or the submittal layout is approved, or within 30 days after the submittal layout is done, whichever comes first.
Option 2:
A. 50% amount due when starting coordination layout.
B. 100% amount due when the stocklist is sent, or the submittal layout is approved, or within 30 days after the submittal layout is done, whichever comes first.
Our clients may pay our services via Paypal or regular paychecks. We are friendly negotiable and can offer flexible payment schedule for our loyal clients once a trustable relationship is established. If you have a large project or special need, we may setup a feasible arrangement with you together.
Q5. What kind of CAD software do you use for fire sprinkler CAD services?
Answer: You may know all fire sprinkler CAD design software in the market are not cross platform based. That means these CAD software don’t “talk” to each other. Currently all fire sprinkler contractors and designers have difficult time importing and exporting design data when switching among different CAD software. Due to the popularity of the *.dwg format in the A/E community, we currently employ SprinkCAD software in our drafting services. However, if you prefer to use different CAD design software, we will find solutions to meet your needs since we are also familiar with other CAD software.
Q6. When can you start a CAD layout for fire sprinkler project?
Answer: We will start CAD layout immediately after receiving a work confirmation or authorization. We are never busy for our loyal clients.
Q7. What is a turnaround time?
Answer: A turnaround time usually takes about one week for a small project, two weeks for a medium size project and three or more weeks for a large project. We confidently guarantee the quality of our services and works. We have never delayed a committed project due to our causes.
Q8. What is the basic information you need to quote and/or schedule project?
Answer: In order to provide sound quote and schedule, we need every project’s R.E.S.U.M.E: Reflected ceiling plans; Electrical and lighting plans; Structural plans; Underground piping plans with water supply information; Mechanical plans; and E-format plans in DWG & PDF.  A productive fire sprinkler CAD design is right from here!
